Liquid vs Dry Measures

When considering the measurement of wet and dry ingredients, the measuring device will measure out the same for each. An example is, a cup of sugar will be the same as a cup of milk. However, when looking at liquid measures and dry measures there are volume differences. As a pint of a dry ingredient is roughly 1/6 larger than a liquid pint.

Here is another chart that may be useful:

Liquid MeasuresDry Measures
3 tsp = 1 T
2 T = 1 oz
4 oz = 1 gill
2 gills = 1 C (8 oz)
2 C = 1 pt (16 oz)
2 pt = 1 qt (32 oz)
4 qt = 1 gal (128 oz)
2 C = 1 pt
2 pt = 1 qt
8 qt = 1 peck
4 pecks = 1 bushel

Quick note:
A gill is a unit of measurement where 1 gill = 1/8 qt, 1/4 pt, 1/2 C, 4 oz, 8 T, 24 tsp
